What does MLM Success mean to you?
2009
It was pointed out that most of my articles are great for those already going in the business but it would be nice to have information pertinent to those just getting started. My response was that everything I’ve written about thus far applies to everyone but I would try to come up with something to write about that was for beginners and this is my first attempt at that.
One of the things that is key when you are just starting out is really establishing your goals. Your “success” is not your sponsors although they may like it to be. If you have an idea what success means you need to flesh it out otherwise how will you know when you have achieved it? … or what steps you need to take to get there? … or if you are making progress?
“We often want one thing and pray for another, not telling the truth even to the gods.” — Seneca
Don’t be careless with your definition of success as everything hinges on it. For example I recall a personal development session I was in where someone said that their goal was not to have any bills and the facilitator said that they could be a bum on the beach and achieve that. Some indicated that they would want a million dollars, others that they would want a million dollars/year, and others had no monetary definition for success. Success for them was defined by time for relationships, family, and/or friends.
When you think of success, or having achieved it, what does it look like to you? Are you working stress free from home? Are you traveling the world? Are you living in the mountains? Are you watching the sunset over the ocean? Who is around you sharing your success?
If you figured out your what and your why, how do they play a part? Do you work 40 hours a week, or 4, or at all? What is work? Are you talking on the phone? Writing a book? Giving a workshop? How do you spend your work time and free time and how much is spent on each? Are you helping others? Are you sharing your knowledge and skills with those who need it? Are you learning from others? What are you learning?
If you can define success clearly, you should be able to visualize it in such detail that you can taste, smell, hear, feel, and see it. And when you have it that clear, you need to write it down as though it has already happened with all the details so that when you re-read what you have written that you can again taste, smell, hear, feel and see it.
Once you’ve accomplished this and you’re ready to commit to it, then share it with others. If you want the world to know then share it hear as a comment or link to a webpage where you have it written.
Why?
By sharing it with others you are committing that you will achieve this success and the more people you share it with, the more committed you are to your success.
